Wundanyi morning

I receive my morning blessing from the light on pirates’ rock
Pause a moment to consider and a moment to take stock
And the eucalyptus leaves that fall
From the silver trunks that grow so tall
Light a thought that floats right past me unaware
While the promise of the day pervades the air
.
And the light lights up my face and mind
As the wind gives me a puff behind
I can sense the rumble of the giant rocks
from the village comes the sound of hens and ducks
Dawning  chorus rising with the sun
As I chase the morning uphill at a run

.
