Monsoon season in the foothills

The sunrise hides behind clouds

And shows only in the growing, gleaming glowing

As day dawns

As sun rises above the mountains the clouds break up

Tear at the edges and play hide and seek

With distant peaks

Sunrays pierce the clouds and cast spot-lights on valley villages

Lighting up solid clouds and distant white peaks

Bringing them within reach

Clouds lift, the valley lies at your feet bathed in sunlight

Golden morning lights fluffy white duvets of cloud

In low-lying places

Mountains hint at their vastness in massive bulk

Sloping gently upwards, disappearing into clouds

Old, vast, distant as forever
