Morning Face

This week’s poem inspired by the surprise that sometimes awaits when you take a close look at yourself in the mirror, and see things you were not expecting to see.

Morning Face

Mirrored morning face

Looks unexpectedly

Like my mothers.

Startlingly pale

After days with eyes focused

On dark-skinned farmers.

  1. I’m glad that you didn’t see wrinkles! I discovered that my mirrors in Denmark show a very different face than the ones I have here in Kampala. I’ll leave you to guess which ones I prefer.

This is of course a very flippant reaction to your beautiful and pregnant poem.
